About Caring Hands For Liberia


Caring Hands For Liberia is a not for profit organization working in the US primarily in support of efforts targeted at the medical needs in Liberia. This page includes more information about the organization, its history and its leadership.

The Beginning


In 2005, Nazarene Brewer Tubman lost her brother due to lack of medical care. This event caused the desire to make a difference and bring hope to people out of the capital city of Liberia. She understood the economic and physical barriers, but decided to move forward with a plan to try to reach remote areas of Liberia.

Nazarene has a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and Biology and a Masters of Business Administration.

Nazarene serves as the President of Caring Hands For Liberia.

Nazarene has a 15 year background in health care administration. She is department head of the Admitting Department at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Board of Directors

In keeping with our values of integrity and accountability, Caring Hands For Liberia is overseen by a Board of Directors. The current Board of Directors include:

Anita Cooper
Anita was born in Maryland County, Liberia. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from Hood College in 1986. Anita Cooper is currently a Senior Business Manager at Fannie Mae. She resides with her family in Oak Hill, Virginia.

Murvee D. Gardiner
Murvee was born in Maryland County, Liberia. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Liberia in 1978. He received his Masters of Public Administration in Public Finance from the University of Southern California in 1986. Murvee D. Gardiner is currently the Director of Accounting at Baltimore City Community College. He resides with his family in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Shadrene Howard Murphy
Shadrene was born in Monrovia, Liberia. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in French from Howard University in 1981. She received her Masters of Business Administration with emphasis in Business and Technical Writing from Howard University in 1986. Shadrene currently resides in Hillside, New Jersey with her family.
